Ben 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks review

Game Story

Vilgax invades the Earth using a weapon called Null Void Projector. This then beams Null Void prisoners to the Earth. Ben and two of his friends, Gwen and Kevin are ready for action as they defend their beloved Bellwood from these threats. The three decided to split up. Ben battles Psyphon, Vilgax’s servant who carries a Mr. Smoothly billboard to attack Ben. Ben uses most of his Omnitrix aliens to defeat the enemies but this resulted in draining his watch’s power. Azmuth, the creator of the Omnitrix, appears to Ben and instructs him that the Omnitrix must recharge before he can use his aliens again. This left Ben with only Swampfire, Humungousaur, Cannonbolt, Big Chill, and Spidermonkey. His two friends show up along with Professor Paradox, who transports the gang back to stop Vilgax. Paradox gives the team a message from Granpa Max who led them the Vulpin, home of the Wildmutt, one of Ben’s original alien forms. It was also revealed that Vilgax is using the planet’s resources to create an alien technology with a purpose unknown.

Ben then now heads to the refinery alone while battling some of Vilgax’s minions. This resulted in a fire in the refinery. He reunited with the team and together learned of Vilgax’s master plan. He wants to find an energy core to take over the earth.

Grandpa Max then directs the team to Terradino, which is Humungousaur’s home planet. They learned that the energy core is located in a nearby temple. Ben faces and defeats Charmcaster and destroys the energy core after.

Encephalonus IV

Ben meets up with his friends and learned that Max has gone to Encephalonus IV, Brainstorms’s home planet. Ben gets Brainstorm back and defeated Darkstar. Ben destroys the next energy core and then proceeds to the core’s final location Anur Phaetos, the home world of Zs’Skayr.

Anur Phaetos

Anur Phaetos is not a planet but an alternate dimension. Ben and the team arrive in Anur Phaetos with the help of Gwen’s grandmother Verdona at the cost of separating them. Ben then faces Zs’Skayr and defeats him, destroying the energy core he was guarding. They were then transported to the original dimension. They learned that the Anur Phaetos is not the last known energy core but it could be at Mor’ Otesi.

Mor’ Otesi

Ben reaches the lab and faces Albedo whom he barely manages to defeat. After destroying Taydenite, Ben meets up with the team and informs them that there is one more energy core in the Null Void.

Null Void

At the Null Void, Ben regains Jetray and defeats D’Void/Doctor Animo. Ben finds the final energy core and used it to transport back to the main dimension where no time passed.

After the Null Void Stage, the game shifts its focus back to Earth. Where Ben and the others found the forces of Vilgax getting weaker as the energy sources have been destroyed. The game then proceeds to the confrontation between Ben and Vilgax. Winning the fight will allow Ben to get the stolen energy core that will open up more stages for the game to progress.

Ben changes back to normal and the game ends with Azmuth adding a new alien to the Omnitrix.

Running around with Ben Tennyson.

Graphics are in three-dimension and high quality. This makes the player really imagine what it feels like to be in the game. The graphics really do resemble the cartoon and the visuals of Ben 10 and are well done. However, the locked camera limits the exploration of planets.

Ben 10 Alien Force: Vilgax Attacks has beautiful graphics.

The game is equipped with sounds and music from the series Ben 10. If you have been watching Ben 10, you can fully experience playing as if you are part of the mission. The voice acting, sound effects, and soundtrack are all from the show which is outstanding.

Fun Factor

The story was directly pulled from the series and would most likely appeal fans of Ben 10. The gameplay is also a balance of action and puzzle-solving as the game is not only about taking enemies down but also how to located energy sources and how to go around certain locations. Familiarization with Ben’s aliens and their specific abilities are also of great help as they each have a role to play in finishing the game. Ben might need to climb, destroy and fly on some parts of the game so the player must be able to determine which of the aliens could fill in that role. The players must also be aware that using a form’s innate abilities drains energy from Ben’s Omnitrix meter so be careful when continually using it. Players must focus on combos and save the special attacks for finishing blows or when they are most needed.

This game might be a bit complicated to kids who are not familiar with Ben 10. But for those who do, they most probably would want to finish the game and beat Vilgax.
