Create your very own drawing or guess someone else’s in this fun drawing and guessing IO video game for all ages – Skribbl.io!
Skribbl.io is a free drawing and guessing multiplayer IO game where players take turns to draw a picture for others to guess and guess the picture that others are drawing. The game will continue for a few rounds (normally 3 rounds) and the person with the most score win.
The game is similar to the popular game Draw My Thing. Be creative in drawing and try to expand the mind in guessing. Be precise and quick to earn more points. The player with the most points at the end of the game will then be crowned as the overall winner!
Skribbl IO (or Skribbl.io) is a free online game where anyone can play anytime with anyone. Upon playing the game, the player will be required to create his own avatar picture by mix and matching the available options.
After a name and avatar are set, the player will be thrown on a random Stage 1 room with a couple of players. If there are no rooms available, a new room will be created and the player must wait for more players to come before the game starts.
When starting the game, the player will fall in one of the two; the one who draws, or the one who guess. When it is the player’s turn to draw, the player will be given three options. The player will have 80 seconds to draw and visualize the word that was chosen. For every player that successfully guessed the drawing, points will be given to the painter accordingly.
Alternatively, when somebody else is drawing, the player must type in the chat box his/her guess. If the player guessed successfully, the player will be given points based on how quick the picture was guessed.
The chat will be blocked for the correct word so no one can copy the answer. But for every other word, the chat will work normally.
Every match consists of multiple rounds (normally 3). The length of every round depends on the number of active players. The more players, the longer the rounds will be.
Skribbl.io features hand-drawn cartoonish graphics in the entirety of the game. The moving cartoonish graphics extends from the avatars and icons to buttons and even the UI. The presentation is rather simplistic, but it gets the job done with minimal distractions.
The UI is pretty simple. The Drawing board is in the center, the list of players and their avatars are on the left side of the screen, while the chat box is located on the right side of the screen. On top of the drawing box is the number of letters represented as “_”.
Below the player screen is the option to vote kick the current player drawing (in case of idle, AFK, or impolite drawing). The chat box also works as the answer box and is presented in a very simple form with standard text font.
Icons and avatars are all presented in a light cartoonish graphics that move in a looping animation. The entire screen is presented in a nice, minimalist, and clean way to avoid distracting the players. The game also uses a nice wallpaper in the background that is easy to the eyes.
Skribbl.io is lacking when it comes to sound. Sounds and Audio in Skribbl.io is pretty much non-existent. The only time you can hear a short beep is when somebody answers right, and so on. Of course the game still has some notification sounds and timer ticking, but that’s about it. Although it features a toggle audio on the upper left corner of the screen, the game features very little audio that the toggle option makes almost no difference.
The game uses the mouse and keyboard. The mouse is used mainly to draw and to interact with various buttons. When drawing, the mouse wheel can be used to adjust the size of the “brush”.
The keyboard is used mainly to type the answer and communicate with other players. Other keys are also bound as hotkeys or shortcuts when drawing.
The game is a solid social time killer where you can meet strangers and play a simple draw and guess game with them. It is easy to lose track of time while playing and it is very fun to witness the drawing prowess of other people, as well as display your own.
Regardless of whether you are good at drawing or just plain bad at it, Skribbl.io is a very fun game web browser game. Although the game was released for quite some time now, there are still plenty of players playing it – a testament to how fun it is. The game is also easy to pick up and drop and does not give you any penalty whatsoever.
However, it is good to point out that the game lacks progression or persistence. Whether you win or lose, the game does not record it. You earn or lose nothing by playing – no coins, no points, no unlockables. It is, of course, by design, but it might also be nice to have some progression along the way to keep players from playing and getting interested by having a set goal.
The collection of players also pointed out to us that the game sorely needs an add friend option or a friend list feature – which we wholeheartedly agree. It is a social game after all.
OnlineGameMag.com creates a fair review and rates the games as concise as possible. The ratings we give are based on several factors including the replayability, fun, presentation, and more. To keep things easy to understand and friendly to most readers, we use a simple numerical approach and rate the games from 1 to 5. In our rating, 1 will be the lowest rating we can give, and 5 will be the highest. Games with a rating of 3 are passable, while games with 4 and above rating are fairly good and we highly recommend trying these games out. Similarly, games with a rating of 2 or below are best avoided to save the readers and players some time.
Skribbl.io is a fun, engaging, time-killing game where you can meet new friends and draw to your heart’s content. With Skribbl.io, you can have a good merry laugh on other’s drawings and guesses. The game is best played when you want to chill out and relax while being entertained at the same time. Although the game lacks many key features for a social game, the game is packed with players. Players of the game come from all background, ages, and skills – making it fun to play on. Because of the lack of said features, the game had successfully established itself as a pick and drop the game. The game is very easy to pick-up and play and it is even easier to drop out of the game when you’re done.
Overall, we give Skribbl.io a solid 4.7 rating for the sheer fun you can experience while playing the game. Of course if the features such as friend list, as well as background music are addressed, the game can easily hit higher ratings.
